DZ History

This Drop Zone was founded in 1975 by Van.
First located at a different location at the airport, the work on the new hangar got started in 1988 and by 1990 the whole new skydiving complex was ready for operations.

Since it's early days the DZ has supported a wide variety of skydiving disciplines, from formation skydiving, free flying and sky surfing to Wing Suits, big ways and specialty jumps, etc.

Skydive California City worked together with different aeronautical engineering companies for product testing and development, as well as different branches of the military and NASA.

Over the years we have hosted and worked on a number of entertainment related productions, movies, TV shows and Commercials.

The wide open terrain, unobstructed views and landing area as well as year round jumping weather make Skydive California City an ideal filming location.

The Air Force Test Parachutists, Navy Test Parachutists and the Marines have all used Skydive California City on a regular basis for test jumping, instructor training, drop tests etc.
