Skydiving News
Time flies when you're having sun!
HAPPY NEW YEAR! What a glorious year we had, so many new opportunities and wonderful people came into our lives this past year. Our skydivers make our drop zone what it is, and we thank each of you!
December has brought us people that we haven't seen for a while from all over the world, such as Vladamir from Canada and Dwight Rapp from the town of "working too hard". Richard Cole, long time old friend introducing a new skydiver into our world Wendel Canete. Also Stan Mitchell from Northern California and his sister Kari Mitchell from up in Washington brought their sister, Kendra Rosenau for a tandem. Jim and Cheryl Kiely came from Washington as well to visit during the holidays and got to spend time with Chie, Toshi, Takahiro and Kohji from Japan. Tony Maybury from Dublin, Ireland, brought back with him a few friends for skydiving fun!
Some of our local jumpers enjoyed Skydive California City's December's weather by getting in some skydives as well. Mike Allmandinger, Roger Porter, Dave Halverson, Dave Greene and Jerry Budnick got in a few 5 Ways. Kelcey Gordon, John Aponte, Sonia Shepherd, and Chris DiCicco did some space ball jumps. Nick Dominguez brought out his sister for a visit, and got in a couple jumps. "Taz" Clark and Vinny Palmieri gave us a hand through the month, while Kevin Kidd, Robert Smith, Lukic, Soko, Jason Anderson, JC Coldren, Keith Lake and Jake Thompson even got a couple of fun jumps between helping us out, we couldn't ask for a better staff.
Also in December, Goran Widenby, Peter Degerfeldt, and Katrina Ollicainen from Sweden, with a production company from Canada, spent a week with us preparing for a Leonardo Da Vinci's parachute jump in March. This has already been done in South Africa, but this time they want to land it.
Dave Barlia brought out his new bird suit and was joined by Mario Richard from Quebec City. At one time there were four "birds" in the air.
What better way to bring in the new year than to have a night jump? None. So that is what we did! JC Coldren said "Out of the 100 plus night jumps that I have done, this was the nicest night jump, and no one tried to kill me". When Keith Lake was asked about the night jump he said, "Awesome, we went to the dark side!" Those that jumped at the turn of the century were Rick Fetter, Hank Kollross, Steve Zappacosta, Dave Thompson, Dave Waltz, Rick Feese, Derek Parker, Dave Greene, JC Coldren, Soko, Lukic, and Keith Lake.
